About US

We are situated about eight miles south - west of Waterford City. The school overlooks the River Anne Valley and has beautiful views of the lakes, ponds and the townslands of Ballyphilip and Ardnahoe.

We hope that, through our Website, we will give a glimpse of our busy and varied life here in Dunhill National School. We would like you to browse our Website to get a taste of Dunhill. The pages detail lots of our work and life here.

Teaching Staff

The Teaching Staff of Dunhill N.S. work at least an additional 36 hours each school year. These hours are part of the Croke Park & Haddington Road Agreements. They are are outside of the hours the teachers spend directly teaching their classes and do not include such activities as Supervision duty, training teams, basketball & GAA matches, Athletics, Quizzes etc. In the last 12 months the teachers have broken up these hours as follows:

- school planning
- continuous professional development
- induction
- School Self Evaluation
- policy development
- staff meetings
- nationally planned inservice
- school arranged inservice

Each teacher also does 43 hours Supervision Duty as part of the Haddington Road Agreement.

Kitchen for Before and After School Service
In our school we have a Before & After School Service. Our newly appointed leader is Emma Murphy. We open from 8am - 9.20am in the morning and 2pm-6pm in the afternoon, on days that the school is open only. This service is only for pupils in our school.

Our philosophy is that all children should be allowed time for unstructured play after their school day in a safe, familiar and caring environment, where they feel special and that they belong.

As well as a home work club the children have games (Nintendo Wii, DS, board and floor games), the use of a kitchen for cooking and eating, DVD player, the school yard to play games in, scooters, art materials etc.

You can ring the school's office on 051-396383
