The Board of Management of Dunhill N.S met on Wednesday, November 29th.
This was the last meeting of the current Board.
A big thanks to all 8 members who have met regularly over the 4 year term of the
Board (2019 – 2023)

Ms. Millea has been appointed to fill in for Mrs. Flynn for the duration of her Maternity Leave. The Board welcomes back Ms. Millea who taught in the same class in the 2021/22 school year.
The Supervision Policy was reviewed, adjusted and passed by the Board
The school will make an application for Solar Panels under the Free Solar Panels Scheme for Schools. Waterford is one of the first Counties to be selected.
The Board of Management analysed the general statistics from the Standardised Tests which were conducted just before the Summer. They were pleased with the results which were all above the national average and in particular the Maths results which were well above national averages.
The Board decided that one Christmas event per year would be ideal. The Concert will remain at every 3 years and will remain in the form that it has always taken. Year 2 will involve Carols and recitals in or outside the Dunhill Community Hall and year 3 would hopefully involve a Christmas Mass with Carols also.

Thursday August 31st saw the arrival of some new members of our school community!
The new Junior Infants all had a great first day and settled in well straight away.

Board of Management Agreed Report 30/06/2023

The Board would like to thank Helen McMahon and Carmel Dunphy (with the assistance of some pupils) who marked out the lines in the basketball court. The Parents Council paid for the paint. The addition of fresh lines is very beneficial to the pupils and the school.
The Department of Education have pulled the proposed 2022/23 school ICT Grant for National Schools and reduced Ancillary Grants and other grants used to maintain the school. The school had to be run with around €14,500 less than was originally indicated. This proved very difficult, and many proposed refurbishments and plans had to be cancelled as a result. The board felt that this was very unsatisfactory in a time when Government Revenues were at an all time high.
Ms. Jamie O Neill was appointed to the Fixed Term position vacated by Mr Kevin Hally, who has gone on a career break for a year.
Emma Murphy will leave her position this Summer as BASC Leader. She will be sorely missed by all in the school and the Board paid tribute to her great work.
The Board reviewed the progress of the School Self Evaluation and analysed the SSE Report. This year the school focused on P.E. for its evaluation.
The Board praised the success of the Dunhill GAA/St. Annes GAA coaching initiative in Dunhill N.S. that saw qualified coaches (most of whom are parents) from these clubs come into the school to help coach GAA/PE. It was a resounding success and plans are a foot to continue it in September and again, next year.
The Board discussed the draft Whole School Evaluation Report and were pleased with its findings. The Whole School Evaluation took place towards the end of May, 2023 and will be published in September.
The Board paid tribute to all involved in the acquisition of our first Green Flag. The Green Schools Committee were thanked for their work but also the pupils, parents and staff in the school for playing their part also.

On Thursday June 1st the Junior and Senior Infants travelled along with their teacher Mrs Flynn and Ms McGovern to Ardmore Open Farm for their tour. A wonderful day was had by all, the sun shone and big smiles were in evidence all day long!

Last week 1st Class wrote letters to their grandparents, which they then posted in Dunhill. Grannies and Grandads all over Ireland (and further afield!) were delighted and surprised to receive these letters, a tradition we sadly don't often see much of anymore.
